some do, there is skill in fishing and poker both take concentration and many hours of practise and training
They are more mentally alert.
neither one are in any way athletes
training for their sport and they sure need to practice, poker players play all year round and train online, fishers do the same only they go by stats a lot and have to know where the fish are and the conditions of the water and the layout of the lake or river, takes many days to get it right, and lots of fishing those spots. Most of it is just being smarter than the other guy, luck usally has nothing to do with it…all skill and will power.
